Beyond is an effects brand founded in 2019 by engineers from SONY.
The first work, beyond tube booster, received over 4 million yen in crowdfunding and became a hot topic.
The beyond tube booster is designed as a pure vacuum tube booster, so no amplification elements such as IC or FET are used.
Therefore, the output impedance was designed not to be low.
In response to this request, Beyond Tube Buffer + was designed to act as a buffer rather than a booster.
Furthermore, since this model is 2S, it is an upgraded version of Beyond Tube Buffer +.
The updated version has redesigned the circuit, increasing resolution and significantly reducing noise.
Also, in the previous version, the signal output destination was switched between Output and Tuner Out using a foot switch, but Tuner Out and foot switch have been abolished in the 2S.
As a modern effect pedal, it has a wide range, so you won't lose the ultra-low frequencies and beautiful presence components of a multi-string bass.
Just by passing it through a booster, the density from the low to mid range will be greatly increased, giving you the unique nuances of tubes such as a slight compression and saturation feeling.
When compared, Buffer+ seems to have a wider upper range.
This is probably due to the low output impedance.
As a product, I think it adds a tube-like nuance to modern digital amplifiers and transistor amplifiers, but I would recommend using it as a base.
In many situations, bassists must primarily use line sounds using DI.
In that case, I think it's common for the amplifier to feel difficult to play or unsatisfying because it lacks the fat nuances typical of an amp.
In such situations, Beyond's Booster and Buffer are sure to compensate for the warmth and fatness that cannot be obtained with a line or small, lightweight amp.
Electro Harmonix 12AU7EH is used as the vacuum tube, prioritizing sound over cost.
Other electronic parts are also selected with performance as the top priority, without any cost cutting that impairs functionality or quality.
The volume knob has been intentionally placed on the side, eliminating the need for a knob.
The Beyond Tube Booster is recommended for old-style bassists, and the Beyond Tube Buffer is recommended for modern-style bassists.
This is a blue LED model sold exclusively from GIB.
There are no noticeable scratches, and the item is in good condition overall.
Rarely, when turning the volume knob, a clunk appears. However, if you fix the position of the knob, you can use it without any problems. I don't think there will be any practical problems.
