The Metro line used to be manufactured in Japan, but after Warwick took over the distribution of Sadowsky products, the manufacturing location was changed to the Warwick factory in Germany.
The brand has several lines at different price points, but this is the top-of-the-range Custom Shop model. It couldn't be better.
The quality is excellent and lives up to its name.
Like the NYC, the body is chambered.
The slightly acoustic-like sound is pleasant and you realise that the lighter weight has a big impact on the playing comfort as well.
The flame maple on the body top is top-notch, as you can see.
Warwick's stock of wood is one of the best in the world and there is a truly incredible amount.
So it's been carefully selected and used from that, it's hard to believe there's more out there.
The body back is alder.
This is naturally high grade as well.
The neck and fingerboard are made of roasted maple.
This is also known as thermo-wood, which is treated at high temperatures to volatilise moisture and increase rigidity.
It was originally a Finnish technique and was popular as a building material for saunas.
In terms of its use in musical instruments, the Kansai brand Sago was a pioneer.
Wood that has gone wrong during the thermo treatment is naturally not used and played.
The result is a high quality product in many ways.
One of the characteristics of thermo wood is that it has a smooth sound and is comfortable to play, in the good sense of the word, with little new feel.
It also has a wide range and warm nuances, which makes the sound juicy and happy.
The quality of the carefully designed neck area is of the highest quality.
The frets are beautifully rounded and set.
The quality of this aspect of the guitar is what gives it its ultra-smooth playability. It is really easy to play.
The PU is a hum-cancelling type and the preamp is only a two-band boost.
The combination is very Sadowsky-like.
The sound is articulate, crisp and powerful.
I personally had some reservations about Warwick making a JB style, but they were rude concerns.
This is a superb guitar factory that makes truly great instruments.
I recommend this supreme one with confidence from the bottom of my heart.
