Ximera is a collaborative brand between Sago and Sonic.
The iconic features of each brand are mixed to create a new and unprecedented style.
Broadly, the impression is that Sago does the woodworking and painting, while Sonic does the integration and electrical design.
This is a typical Arixi model.
This unit was on display at the Soundmesse 2024.
We stocked it because it was exceptionally good when we touched it.
So if you play it, you will feel its value in the same way.
The body is made of thermo-alder.
Thermo-wood is wood that has been treated with high heat to adjust the moisture and oil content inside the wood, making it stronger against high temperatures and humidity.
Originally valued in Finland as a building material for saunas, it was popularised by Sago as a wood for musical instruments.
It is sometimes said that the condition of the wood after treatment is similar to that of vintage wood.
The impression is that it becomes more comfortable to play.
The neck is made of maple and the fingerboard is made of an artificial wood called Altmate-E.
This man-made wood has a moderate hardness and mass, making it a good choice for the fingerboard.
As the name Sago New Material Guitars suggests, one of their concepts is to actively adopt new materials.
It's great that this attitude is strongly visible and that the quality is high and shows a strong advantage.
The fingerboard is finished in a design called Conical Radius.
It is very similar to the compound radius, with different radiuses on the low and high fret side. (240-410 mm)
The pickups are Sonic Jupiter LJB-01.
Basically, it is based on the sound of 60's JBs and is supported by many artists, including Bump of Chicken Naoi who actually uses it.
In addition, a noise cancelling coil is also used in this unit, so that the noise is cancelled by the pickup itself.
A Sonic Bonheur BH-2M is used as the pre-amplifier.
This is a somewhat unique design with a low-mid and high-mid two-band EQ.
Rather than designing a loud sound like a typical active bass, it has a passive + α impression, slightly arranging the nuances of the mid-range.
The bridge is equipped with Sonic's Tri-Tone Separate Bass Bridge, which has a separate ball end and saddle section.
In this individual, an ebony saddle is matched.
And the pickguard has a sequin back and acrylic top.
The sequins were sewn for this shape, not cut into it.
It is in these small details that the brand's sense of beauty is expressed.
These are carefully assembled by Mr Takeda, a skilled craftsman.
They were also finished to perfection again before delivery.
In terms of sound, it gives the impression of a modern JB.
However, it is not strangely hard or tight, the sound is not too fast and you can feel the bouncing nuance with a slight sense of compression.
The open playing feel is extremely 4-string-like and fun to play.
I think it will appeal to many musicians.
It is a new brand, so please try it first.
