John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, president of PRS Guitars, spent two years researching and developing this model.
The look of the guitar is based on the traditional double cutaway guitar loved by many artists around the world, but it is filled with original ideas in many places.
The body is made of Alder, the neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is Rosewood.
All of them are traditional woods essential in the history of electric guitars.
The paint is traditional lacquer.
The finish is an ultra-thin thickness that meets PRS's strict regulations.
The neck shape is 635 JM-R shape.
This is a unique neck shape that was developed through careful research and numerous tests on vintage guitars made in 1963 and 1964, which John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith loved so much.
The fingerboard radius is 7.25, which is closer to Fender than the SE model, and has a vintage guitar-like feel.

The pickups are 635JM specially designed for Silver Sky.
This single coil pickup is inspired by the sound of vintage guitars made in 1963-64.
It has a well-balanced sound with the sparkle of single coil pickups but without too much pain in the upper register.
The brightness is not necessarily lost, but rather the excess bandwidth is cut out, giving the impression of a more modern and refined version of the traditional single-coil sound.
The knobs, jack plate, and other hardware are of PRS's own design.
It is also attractive to see one point of individuality in the traditional look.
As a side note, even if John Mayer forgets his instrument, he can buy it at a store and use it in a live performance as it is.
