Description & Condition
Torillo Basses is a bass brand based in Germany.
Builder Tom is also a musician and draws on his own experiences to create excellent basses.
His career as a builder seems to go back more than 20 years.
Because he is a professional musician and a builder himself, his basses combine practicality for working on stage and flamboyance to add color to the music.
To be honest, it is a bit troubling that his production volume is not up to par due to the amount of his own activities as a musician.
In fact, the three pieces that came in 2024 were ordered prior to 2022.
The first time Tom had one was in 2019, in Mannheim, Germany.
It was at a guitar show called Guitar Summit.
The outstanding quality was felt at first glance, and that impression remains in a good way even when touching the latest pieces.
It was a complete brand from that time.
Incidentally, at the venue in Germany where we first met, there was the master guitarist Etienne Mbappé, who was trying out Torillo Basses.
Listening to him from the side, he really praised it and seemed to be considering purchasing it.
However, what he was interested in was what GIB had been holding onto, and that was the first Chantico that arrived in Japan at the time.
Now, this one, one of the three in stock this time, is a Chantico with JB's style.
FCV stands for Full Custom Voice and refers to a top-of-the-line model in which all elements are built from scratch for a single order and manufactured with the highest technology.
The Chantico is inspired by the Jazz bass, mixing traditional elements in the Torillo style.
The carefully crafted neck is both robust and supple.
The smooth neck grip and beautiful fretwork support smooth playing.
You get the sense that musicianly convenience was the primary consideration for this beautiful neck.
It's a great job because we are both musicians and builders.
Pickups and preamps are original and optimized for our company.
The sound is powerful and speedy.

This full-range, powerful nuance is in a sense MTD-like, in a sense vintage Fender-like.
