Sire rose to fame as a brand releasing bass guitars overseen by Marcus Miller. The guitars and basses they produce are of extremely high quality, garnering support from fans beyond just Marcus. This model is an updated version of the V7, partly inspired by the Jazz Bass. In keeping with Marcus's style, it features an active circuit and boasts modern classic specs. The neck is made of roasted maple with a satin finish. This is also known as thermowood. Practically developed for musical instruments by the Japanese company Sago, thermowood was originally used in Finland as a building material for saunas. Pursued for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity, thermowood's usefulness for musical instruments is evident from its use by top manufacturers such as Sadowsky and Suhr. A certain amount of thermowood is discarded during the processing process. Presumably, even those that will eventually warp will be played here. The sound exudes a rich, refined nuance. The fingerboard is made of roasted maple, just like the neck, but this side is finished with a gloss finish. The edges are nicely rounded to improve playability. Most players will have a positive reaction to this specification. The body is made of sleek ash. The pickup position is the same as on Fender's 70s JB. This produces a uniquely tight and powerful sound. Unlike the V7 series, the bridge is the new "New Marcus Heavymass II Bridge." We are impressed by this style of actively incorporating new features. The controls are extensive, including volume, tone, balance, bass, middle, mid frequency, treble, and an active/passive switch. While it may appear complex at first glance, from a bassist's perspective, it is well-organized. It features a tight yet powerful sound rich in overtones and just the right amount of compression. This is a model that is definitely worth trying out, not only for those aiming for a Marcus-esque sound, but also for those simply looking for a high-quality jazz bass. Approximately 95% of the frets remain. The truss rod is in good condition. The neck shows signs of being too high. Adjusting it 0.2mm higher than the GIB standard (2.2mm-3.0mm at the 12th fret) will allow for smooth playability. There are minor scratches scattered throughout the body and paint. The electrical system is in good condition. No obvious modifications were found.
