This model, the V5, is based on the jazz bass.
There are several models in the V series, but this one has a vintage-inspired design.
The neck is made of roasted maple with a satin finish.
This is also known as thermowood.
Thermowood, developed by the Japanese company Sago for use in musical instruments, was originally used in Finland as a building material for saunas.
Thermowood is prized for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity, and its usefulness for musical instruments is evident from the fact that it is used by many top manufacturers.
A certain amount of thermowood is apparently discarded during the processing process.
Presumably, even those that will warp in the future will be played here.
The sound exudes a strong, refined nuance.
The fingerboard is also made of roasted maple.
Unlike the neck, it has a gloss finish.
The edges are nicely rounded to improve playability.
Most players will have a positive reaction to this specification.
The body is made of alder, a very classic style of wood.
The pickup position is the same as on a Fender '70s JB.
This produces a uniquely tight and powerful sound.
The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncans.
The bridge is also designed with a classic style in mind.
The controls are simple: two volume and one tone.
It features a tight yet powerful sound with plenty of overtones and just the right amount of compression.
It retains the playability you'd expect from a Sire, while also offering a vintage-like feel.
This bass is highly recommended not only as a step-up bass, but also as a secondary bass.
Approximately 90% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition. There is a thin crack in the center of the neck grip at the first fret. There are no current issues (see photo).
The body and finish have minor scratches, but are generally clean.
The electrical system is in good condition.
The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncans (touch noise has been treated with copper foil tape).
