Fender is the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It is loved by countless top artists, including Jaco Pastorious, Marcus Miller, and Geddy Lee. (Titles omitted)
The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model of the Precision Bass.
Its sharp, clear sound is loved by many bassists, and it still has an overwhelming support and shining presence to this day.
This model has a body from around 1962-3 and a neck and electrical system from 1966.
The neck end is stamped with 7 JAN 66 A.
The neck PU volume pot is stamped with 304-661○, and the bridge PU volume pot and tone pot are stamped with 304-6618.
From these, we have determined that the general specifications are from 1966.
The body is alder.
As you can see, the body has holes for the mute system and a ground wire extending from the bridge, which are characteristics of Jazz Basses made before 1963.
Based on these and the story of the consignor, we were able to determine the approximate age of the body.
The fingerboard is made of rounded Rosewood, a popular specification.
It has been refretted and re-nutted.
Careful, high-quality work has been done without destroying the original atmosphere.
The nut in particular has been replaced so that the original binding remains, and is highly accurate.
The date on the pickup has disappeared, making it difficult to judge, but it appears to be an original gray bobbin.
There is a blank-stamped 13 BLACK mark under the pickguard.
This suggests that it was refinished black at the Fender Factory.
This particular body was probably from around 1962-3 and was returned to the Fender Factory in 1966 for refinishing.
At that time, the neck was replaced, as were the metal parts and electrical system.
The pot dates and other details are as mentioned above.
The joint plate is also from 1966, so the period matches.
The bridge is unknown, but it has been refinished, and since the refinish paint is not on the back of the bridge, it is natural to assume that it has been replaced.
The pickguard has probably been replaced as well.
Considering these, it can be said that the neck is essentially the original paint.
Overall, the specifications are almost 1966.
Although it is a refinished, two-piece instrument, it is highly original.
The condition of the neck and frets is also good, so there should be no problem with playing it for a long time.
The classic jazz bass sound that everyone loves.
Recommended.
About 90% of the frets remain.
The condition of the truss rod is good.
The condition of the neck is good.
The body and paint surface show signs of wear appropriate to the age, such as peeling paint, scratches, and weather checking.
As for the condition of the electrical system, there is a slight scratching noise from the jack when the plug moves vigorously, but this does not affect normal playability. When your fingers touch the pole pieces, noise may occur.
It has been refretted and re-nutted. Careful, high-quality work has been done without destroying the original atmosphere. One of the neck PU mounting screws has been replaced. There is a 13 BLACK stamp under the pickguard. This suggests that it has been factory refinished.
