What makes this model unique is that, despite being an onboard bass preamp, it does not have an equalizer section. Its purpose is to simply convert high-impedance signals to low-impedance without actively shaping the sound. Lowering the impedance reduces high-frequency loss, giving the perceived nuance of a slight boost in the high frequencies. In other words, the sound becomes clearer and more distinct.
